CARING FOR YOUR PRINT

You are now the owner of an original limited edition print produced by Mobeen Akhtar. Caring for your prints correctly will mean they will last you a lifetime. Following a few simple steps will help you enjoy your print in the best way possible.

On opening your print please keep it inside its box without the tissue paper covering the gold until you are ready to frame it. If you did not opt for a box then take your print out of all its packaging and lay it flat with the tissue paper loosely over it. Do not put any other object, papers, books etc on top of your print as this will damage the gold leaf.

Whilst the print is out of its packaging please refrain from touching the printed area to prevent any oils from your skin transferring over. Hold the print only along the white margins. The printed surface is also very delicate and can be scratched or marked, especially if you have a large block of printed colour, for example the black border in the ‘Nafs’ print.

Caring for the gold - Please do not touch the 24k gold leaf. Once again the oils from your skin will gradually dull the gold. Do not hang your print in direct sunlight. Keep your print away from heat, for example do not hang the frame over a radiator, this is to ensure the gold leaf is protected, otherwise the glue will be compromised.

When framing your print, please use a mount board to frame the print. This will ensure that there is a GAP between the glass and the print. Your framing company can help you with this, or if you are purchasing an off the shelf frame, they all usually come with a standard white mount board to frame your print behind. You can also ask your framer to float mount the print. The main objective is to NOT ALLOW the gold leaf to TOUCH the glass.

If you are framing your prints yourself, please secure your print to the back of the mount board with good quality masking tape to prevent it from moving or dropping inside the frame whilst up on your wall.
